India today on 22nd October 2008 6:22 IST, launched the Chandrayaan 1 satellite from Satish Dhawan Space Center if ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) on the PSLV C11 rocket.

The launching is reported to be a text book launch. This marks the entry of India into an exclusive club of countries who have sent missions to moon. Although, it will still take nearly 2 weeks to the Chandrayaan to reach it's destination, but the initial phase has been very successful and scientists are confident of its full success.

India is set to launch it's first unmanned moon mission - Chandrayaan 1 on 22nd of October 2008.

This will place India into an exclusive club of countries who have been able to do so.

Chandrayaan 1 is an unmanned mission which will orbit moon at an altitude of 100 KM for two years and map the surface of moon. Apart from this, it will carry many instruments to perform different types of experiments.

Actually, this mission has become of a sort of international one headed by India. This is some kind of role reversal now.

Sixth Central Pay commission recommendation has been notified by the government on 29th Aug 2008. With this, the wait of Central Govt. employees is over. The final notification can be downloaded here:
