Skill Test
TYPING TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED LATER FOR THOSE CANDIDATES WHO QUALIFY THE MAIN EXAM.
Syllabus for LDC :
Paper I :
A. General English : In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English language and its correct usage, his writing ability would also be tested. Questions on paragraph/writing, report writing/letter writing etc. may be included.
B. General Studies : Question in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Question will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, geography, economic, scene, general polity, Indian Constitution, scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
C. Arithmetic : Questions of this component will cover number system including questions on simplification, decimals, fractions, LCM, HCF, ratio and proportion, percentage, average, profit and loss, discount, simple and compound interest, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, tables and graphs etc.
Skill Test (Typewriting Test) :
The candidates who qualify the main examination(s) will have to undergo a typewriting test.
Typewriting Test is a Qualifying test only. Required minimum typing speed for this qualifying test is 30 words per minute (in English) and 25 words per minute (in Hindi).
Candidates are allowed to take the typewriting test either in Hindi (Devanagri script) or in English.
Candidates shall have to bring their own typewriter for the test. Use of electronic typewriter is not allowed in typewriting test.
Only those candidates who secure in the written (main) examination such minimum qualifying marks as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion will be eligible to be considered for appearing in the Typewriting Test and only such of them as qualify at the typewriting test at the prescribed speed will be eligible for being recommended for appointment upto the number of vacancies available.
The typewriting test will consist of one paper of running matter of 10 minutes duration.
No second chance will be given to candidates if their typewriter goes out of order or fails to work during such test.
NOTE
1. A candidate who claims to be permanently unfit to pass the typewriting test because of physical disability may, with the prior approval of the Chairman, Staff Selection Commission, be exempted from the requirement of appearing and qualifying at such test, provided such a candidate submits a certificate in the prescribed form to the Commission from the competent medical authority declaring him/her to be permanently unfit to pass the typewriting test because of a physical disability. This certificate will have to be submitted at the time of applying for main examination/typewriting test.
2. A candidate who submits medical certificate from the medical board attached to VRC for PH persons or from the medical board attached to special employment exchange for PH persons, his/her claim would be accepted straight away. However, a candidate who submits medical certificate from civil/orthopedic surgeon, his/her case would be referred to medical board attached to VRC/special employment exchange for PH for clearance.
