Sahib Singh Verma cremated at his native village in Delhi
Senior BJP leader, former Delhi Chief Minister and former Union labour minister Sahib Singh Verma was cremated in New Delhi at his native village Mundaka. He had died in Rajasthan in a road accident while returning to Delhi from a public function on 30th June 2007. Along with him, 3 other persons travelling with him died when a mini truck collided head on with their Tata Safari vehicle.

China celebrates 10 years of acquiring Hong Kong
China celebrated 10 years of acquiring Hong Kong from Britain on 1st July 1997. This occasion also marked protests from some people demanding the democratic accountability form President Hu Jin Tao.

Pakistan Army Storms Lal Masjid
Pakistaniu security forces stormed the Lal Masjid in capital (Islamadab), killing nearly 160 people, including cheif cleric Maulana Rashid Ghazi, who had openly challenged Pervez Musharraf and demanded Pakistan officially embrace Islamic orthodoxy by adopting harsh shariyat laws.
