After
domain name and hosting space are reserved, next comes the phase of
designing of website. You can go for any of the following options:
1)
You can do the direct HTML coding in your favourite text editor. Two
text editors that I like are "Blufish Web Editor"
for Linux and "Notepad++"
for Windows. These editors support all the functionality that is
generally required. And above all, they are free of cost.
2)
You can use some WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. Many
commercial editors like Dreamweaver and Front Page are present, which
provide very good facilites for designing any kind of professional
quality website. If you do not want to pay, you can go for alterantive
free editors like NVU.
3)
Many web hosting comapanies provide online ready made templates for
creating websites. You can check whether your provider gives such
scripts and can use them. But generally these kinds of tamplates are
not suitable for designing of a professional quality website. However,
these templates are very good for designing personal websites for
introducing yourself.
4) You can also go for Content
Management Systems (CMS). Two very popular free CMS are Joomla and Drupal. These CMS can be
adjusted according to your needs and you can fully configure them
according to your requirements. For example, this website is running on
Drupal.
Once you have created the design for
website, you can upload the content for it.
