Virtual Shiksha

IGNOU has launched an online system called SWISS (Single Windows Information & Student Support). This is a single place where a student can do various works, which he had to search through the entire website of IGNOU. These services are following:

1 ) Admission/ Registration
2 ) Material Dispatch Status
3 ) Address Status
4 ) Grade Card Status
5 ) Term End Results
6 ) Convocation Status
7 ) Hall Ticket Status
8 ) Online TEE Examination Form
9 ) Other Important Announcements

Most of these services were already available from IGNOU website. But the main thing that this system has done is to bring all of them on a single page. The page is of cute Web 2.0 style. In other words, this service is more of a sort of integration of already existing services instead of introducing something new.

One thing that has been done is that each link opens in a new window. Although this helps in keeping the main single window always available for access, but sometimes it becomes confusing due to cluttering of large amount of browser windows on the desktop.
